This morning, while dropping Lil J off at preschool and I received two compliments on her by two different teachers.
Teacher 1: She thanked me for raising such a kind and sweet girl. She has been so caring and kind to one of the kids at school who is visiting and has some special needs.
Teacher 2: She told me that she wants her to come back and be one of their college student helpers when she is older. She is very good at organizing and coordinating things.
This totally made my day!!
Last month, we had parent conferences and the teachers told me that she is really wonderful to have at the school. She is a mediator and helps the other kids to get along. She has learned how to stand-up for herself as well. It is nice to hear that she is fair and treats people equally.
I just love my girl and so glad to hear how wonderful she is when we are not there. I guess we are doing something okay. You just never know what your child is like when they are not with you, so it is nice to hear that she is a kind and caring person to others. It is nice to know that her teachers think highly of her. I truly hope that her kind and caring nature will never change.

Weekend recap
Mama's spring break wrapped up this weekend. On Friday, we spent the afternoon hanging with out great friends. HB and mama have been friends since their freshman year of college and after college were roommates for almost 10 years until getting married.
Time for a train ride.
What a fun Friday afternoon!
On Saturday, we had a family dinner out. Lil J loves her little car especially when daddy drives fast. She always starts to giggle and cheer when he accelerates. She is definitely her daddy's little girl.
On Sunday, Lil J enjoyed an afternoon daddy-daughter lunch date.
How I love these two!!

A real haircut
Lil J got her first real haircut. She's had her bangs trimmed and her hair trimmed but today Grandma gave her a real haircut.
We didn't really have a choice since Lil J decided to cut some of her hair the other day so that she could make a soft bed for her little doll. I guess after she did it she went to her daddy to admit that she did something wrong. She knew after she did it that she had made a mistake.
I wasn't home but this is what happened according to daddy:
"So I was taking a shower and Jordyn comes in and says, "Daddy, I don't know if your gonna be happy or mad about this, but I just cut my hair with scissors" I peek out of the shower and tell her not to cut anymore LOL I think she kinda freaked out a little bit once it was cut and in her hand."
So Grandma had to even things out. She didn't want it too short and compromised with grandma to layer the front a bit. It was definitely time for a haircut. She had some split ends and now her hair is nice and healthy.

St. Patrick's Day '14
Wore green and had some corned beef and cabbage. That was it and just enough. Lil J is part Irish so we had to represent.
Being silly
Going to the library
On Sunday we headed to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful place. I can't believe that even though both daddy and I have lived in So Cal all our lives we had never been here. The grounds are expansive and filled with different types of gardens. We had a blast.
"I can make this if I had a giant piece of paper." I believe that she could.
What a fun family adventure on a beautiful day in So Cal. We will be back to see more of this beautiful place. We didn't even make it into the library.

Kindergarten
It's time to register Lil J for kindergarten. It is crazy to think that in a few short months I will have a kindergartener. Yikes!!
This whole kindergarten thing has been anxiety provoking for us. Mainly me. We want Lil J to go to a school closer to my work so we have applied for an interdistrict transfer. We don't find out about that until June or July. So just in case, we made sure to register in our home district. We applied for an intradistrict transfer to another school in our district since we do not like the school that is considered our home school. We are notified of that in May. At least we covered all our basis and she will go somewhere. It's just a matter of where.
It has been so crazy doing all this on top of it being the busiest time of the semester at work. We've done our research and went to kindergarten open houses and had all the paperwork together. All applications are in.
So now we just wait. It is out of our hands. I know that Lil J will do just fine in whatever school she ultimately ends up going to. But we do want the best for her and value education very much. If we can at least give her the best school opportunity we can then hopefully that will pave the way to a positive future. Nothing can take the place of a good education; that is the foundation to becoming a meaningful member of society and being socially responsible. At the core of it all that is what we want for Lil J. Crossing all our fingers and praying.
Beach day in the winter
We never really had a winter here in So Cal. I had Yoga teacher training all weekend and it was a beautiful warm weekend so daddy and Lil J decided to head to the beach.
Gotta love So Cal.

Because she's happy
Lil J is a pretty happy kid. I hope she is always like that and nothing jades her natural happiness and bright personality. I just love this kid and feel blessed everyday.
Her art work reflects that happy personality. Just love it!!

Last day of the winter season
Southern California has had a very warm and dry winter which has not been good for the local ski resorts. It also means that the winter season has come to an end. Today was closing day at Mountain High due to the lack of cold and snow. Daddy and Lil J went out to get one more snowboard day in.
