Daddy's little helper

Last weekend, Baby Bear helped daddy fix a leaky toilet. First she instructed daddy that they needed tools to get the job done. She explained to him that she had no tools. Luckily daddy has plenty of tools. And he taught her that all they need was the right tool to get the job done. Get 'er done!

She drew daddy a diagram of what needed to be done (I helped too).

Then, she helped by making sure that he had enough light. She started with her pink princess flashlight, but decided that the big Mag light was more effective.

We are thankful to have such a handy daddy who can take care of these things and a great little helper to help him out.

Art Show

"Art show, we're all going to an art show." Those are the lyrics to a Yo Gabba Gabba song. I guess I am a mom of a toddler.

Sunday we went to our cousin, Cory Schnitzer's art show in Del Mar, CA. We were really excited to support him and his talents. He is a young, up and coming artist and he is really great and has really been working to make it all happen. Check out his website: http://coryschnitzer.com. We are really proud of him.

We had a nice time at the art show and enjoyed these awesome Bloody Marys. How can you go wrong with a Blood Mary like this.

Baby Bear enjoyed herself.

She especially like the koi pond, which kept her really busy. She enjoyed feeding the koi.

She even met a new little friend.

We had a wonderful time.

The show did really well and he sold half his pieces. I got an early Mother's Day present and came home with my favorite piece. Doesn't it look perfect on our living room wall.

Mommy and daddy get a night outSaturday

Saturday, I brought Baby Bear to the college where I work for the annual International Festival. It is always a fun event to attend, you can sample great food from all over the world and watch all kinds of international performances. While there we ran into a few of her class mates from school and friends from day care. It is funny that they were all a little shy with one another even though they see each other every day. I think they were a little surprised to see each other out of the regular context.

We had a nice time the two of us and she enjoyed running around the college.

That evening, we had an adult dinner planned with some friends. Instead of exchanging Christmas gifts, each year we plan a dinner with no kids. Well, trying to find a date this year was challenging with six couples and so it was April and we ended up with one of the couples missing. We went out to downtown LA for a nice dinner. It was a beautiful da in LA.

One of our favorite places to go.

It was nice to be just us for a few hours and to get to be with friends without worrying about any kids. Among us we have a total of 13 kids, so when we get together it is pretty busy. So it was nice to sit down to a nice dinner with each other. At about 10pm, we all turned back in mommy and daddy, hahaha.

Hoppy Easter 2012

We celebrated Easter at home and a few family members and friends came by to help celebrate. Baby bear woke up Sunday morning to find that the Easter Bunny ate some of the carrots we left out and an Easter Basket.

Baby Bear loves Max and Ruby as well as Olivia, so she was thrilled to find some books of her favorite characters. She especially liked her Olivia dress up figures.

She then realized that the Easter Bunny had hidden some eggs throughout the house. I will post the video later.

She enjoyed her new treats from the Easter Bunny then got ready to go to church for Easter mass.

After mass, we got ready to have a few family members and friends at the house. We cooked and enjoyed some good company. We had a great Easter feast.

I tried a few new recipes and ideas that were inspired from pinterest (recipes are posted on my food blog).

After our tummies were full (and an outfit change for Baby Bear), we went outside to draw on the sidewalk and have some fun with Auntie Mary.

Getting ready for Easter 2012

This morning, I went to the gym to get a workout in before our Easter weekend festivities. I came home to this...

IMG_0081

I guess this is what happens while daddy in in the shower and she finds her pink marker. It is a good thing it is a washable.

Later in the day, we made some rice krispie treats.

IMG_0086

Her first time having rice krispie treats and I think she liked them.

We shaped some of the treats into eggs and I later decorated them...

Later in the afternoon, after nap time we colored some Easter eggs.

IMG_0092

She enjoyed coloring the eggs.

Of course, pink was her favorite.

Visiting friends, a pony, and some ducks

On Friday, Baby Bear and I had a day off so we went to visit our friends and their pony. It was so fun to see my good friend (who I lived with for 10 years before getting married). It had been too long since I saw her and her sweet daughter.

Baby Bear brought along her own pony, but it did not compare to the real thing.

Baby Bear enjoyed her friend's little scooter. Her little friend enjoyed Baby Bear.

She promised her daddy that she would give her friend, Isabel, a hug and kiss from him. They were so sweet together.

IMG_9989

We headed to the park just a few minutes from their hours to feed the ducks.

A close up of the band-aid she insisted on wearing for the last few days even though it was totally unnecessary.
