Happy Birthday Daddy!

Baby Bear wanted to bake a cake for her daddy's birthday and so we baked Daddy a Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Cake on Sunday for his birthday on Monday. Daddy wanted to wait to have cake until his actually birthday. It was hard to wait, but it was so worth the wait and sooo yummy.

Ready to bake with her Miss Muffin (who she calls Miss Strawberry Cupcake). She was so excited that Miss Cupcake also wore an apron like her.

In addition to the cake, Baby bear insisted that she make daddy a birthday crown. We ran out of time on Sunday, but Grandma Bear helped her to make a special birthday crown on Monday, which he proudly wore at dinner (for a couple of minutes).

Daddy wore it again for cake time.

March Facebook statuses...The things she says

I just love the things Baby Bear says sometimes. Here are some of my Facebook statuses from this month. The things she says and the things she does. With a toddler, there is never a dull moment.

March 19: Poor daddy trying to nap on the couch. Jordyn runs to him and asks "why are your eyes not open?"

March 11: Thank goodness for washable markers. Jordyn drew on our leather couches in red marker. Knew it would happen sooner or later....

March 11: My little girl in her tutu in the back seat tells daddy to race the car next to us. She says, "Go faster daddy! We're winning!" She tells him to go again and go faster. She is definitely her fathers daughter

March 8: I asked Jordyn to ask her daddy to help her since I was busy. She says: "but daddy's not in charge."

March 6: On the drive home, Jordyn grabs a peach cup out of her lunch box. I tell her I am driving so I can't open it. She tells me that the peaches are sad. Why I ask. She says because they want to be in her tummy.

Snow Day 2012

Back in late November, we had been telling Baby Bear that we would go to Wrightwood to visit our friends and play in the snow. So I bought her some snow gear, so that she would be prepared. Well, March came around and no snow had come to Wrightwood. Our friends didn't even used any of the snow days built into their school schedule. Baby Bear was waiting and even told us just last week, "We never saw Poston and the snow!" And she was right. This kid has a great memory.

Since Baby Bear's snow gear still had all its tags attached, I was planning on returning it since I knew she would grow out of it by next season. Luckily, I hadn't had the time to return it yet because it snowed!!

So, we decided to visit our friends on Sunday morning. We told Baby Bear when she woke up that we were going to visit our friends and see the snow. She was so excited!!! I started putting all of our gear together and she was so excited that she was helping me by making sure I didn't forget her snow boots, snow jacket, etc. It was so cute how excited she was.

We were driving up the mountain just 15-20 minutes from home and already began to see some snow on the ground.

Baby Bear was so excited. This was her first time ever seeing the snow. She wanted to show her doll, Sandy, the snow out the window.

She kept asking if we were there yet. She couldn't wait to see her friends. They definitely had some snow and it was snowing even when we got there. It continued to snow off and on through out the day. It was beautiful.

We got to the house and got Baby Bear all geared up with her snow suit, boots, and mittens.

As excited as she was in the car, she wasn't so sure when we actually got out in the snow.

IMG_9755

We went sledding a couple of times and that was all Baby Bear was interested in. But she did enjoy it.

IMG_9749

We sat and played with the snow for a bit with our friends.

Then she was done with the snow and the cold and was ready to go back in the nice warm house to play.

She had a blast playing with her friends and making forts.

It was a fun day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day fell on a Saturday this year and I didn't even think to dress Baby Bear in green on the Friday before at school. Oh well, I couldn't get her to wear green on the actual day anyways. My girl wanted to wear pink, like she does on most days.

Baby Bear is actually park Irish, so it seemed fitting that we should celebrate St. Patrick's Day to some extent. So I made corned beef and cabbage. It was the least I could do. The corned beef cooked all day in the crock pot and smelled so good.

IMG_9726

I had planned to bakes some cupcakes with Baby Bear that we could decorate in festive green. Papa wanted some cookies, so instead we baked some chocolate chip cookies. A perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon at home.

IMG_9723

Forgive me for no makeup, but it was rainy day and we were just staying home.

Dinner was yummy.

It was a nice rainy day and we were glad that we could just stay home and be together.

Afternoon Park Day

Last week was spring break at work. All that means is that it is quiet on campus, I usually end up working anyways since all of us had different weeks for spring break. I took advantage of a quiet week in the office, but taking some time off to do some spring cleaning and organizing around the house and some time to relax and read a couple of books.

One afternoon, I left the office early and Baby Bear and I headed to the park on a beautiful day.

Baby Bear loves the swings.

She also brought her doll, Sandy to swing.

IMG_9703

Baby Bear is quite coordinated and a climber.

Raking leaves with Papa

On Sunday, Papa was out back raking the leaves and Baby Bear decided to keep him company.

IMG_9460

She helped in her own way, by playing in the leaves.

IMG_9450

And jumping in the leaves. In her tutu, of course.

IMG_9456

I am not quite sure what she is so surprised about, but I love the picture.

I just love the tutu and converse she combo.

Getting ready for Easter

I decided to ao little Easter decorating. I was inspired by something I had pinned on Pinterest.

IMG_9429

Baby Bear seemed to like it and as I was trying to get some pictures, she too took a few of her own.

A musical girl

Baby Bear loves the performing arts (much like her mama). We know how much she LOVES to dance. She also loves to sing and often makes up her own little songs. I downloaded a piano app on our iPad and she enjoys playing the piano too. This girl loves music.

Riding her bike

Baby Bear has come a long way in riding her bike. She can now peddle all by herself without the help of daddy pushing her. She is doing better at steering as well, although she needs to work on paying attention from time to time. When she learns to break, she will be ready to go on bike rides with Papa (Grandpa Bear) who rides his bike several miles every day.

My birthday... and Baby Bear

My birthday was a couple days ago. It was a busy month, with getting sick and then Baby Bear getting really sick at the same time. Then just last weekend was the conference that I had been planning for the last year as one of the co-organizers. So I was literally exhausted when the end of February came around. Well my birthday just happens to be the end of February. Usually it is the last day of the month on February 28th, but this year is a leap year so I get two days at the end of the month. I figure that my birthday doesn't end until it is March 1, so on leap year I get to celebrate for TWO days!

I took the time off and had some "ME" time. It was great to have some time to myself and allow myself to pamper myself. I went shopping and didn't get anything for myself; instead I bought some stuff for Baby Bear. My rare moment to shop for myself and I end up doing things for my girl. I just can't help it; I love that girl. In fact, the best part of my birthday was my little girl singing "Happy Birthday" to me. That was just awesome.

Baby Bear really understands birthdays and is already eager to plan her birthday in June. Now that my birthday has past, it is now time for Baby Bear birthday planning. I can't believe my little girl will be 3 in exactly 3 months from tomorrow. It seems like yesterday she was this tiny little thing. Now she is this little person with thoughts and ideas and lots of wants! She is awesome and amazing with such a mind of her own. She has already dictated a color scheme and possible theme for her 3rd birthday! The girl knows what she wants.

I thought I was going to get away with a small quiet thing this time around, but it looks like she's going to have a party. Now that she understands the concept of birthdays and birthday parties, she wants one. The last couple of birthday parties have been large with about 100 people (we can't seem to have small parties; we have a large family and have a hard time cutting people from the invitation list, so large parties it is). The past parties have been a little overwhelming for her and so I was thinking I wouldn't put her (or me) through that this year. But she wants a party and so does daddy. If Baby Bear wants a birthday party, she will get one. This is the first time she has ever had an opinion on the matter and that in and of itself is pretty amazing.

Lola Bear's Birthday

A few weeks ago we celebrate my mommy's birthday. Baby Bear is still figuring out the concept that Lola Bear is my mommy and her Lola. She is starting to get it. She will ask me if Nono Bear is my daddy.

We had some lunch at a Japanese restaurant and Baby Bear enjoy trying to use chopsticks. She actually didn't do too bad.

IMG_0604

Somehow she made a mess and luckily I had a change of pants and my mom had just bought her a new shirt, so we had a wardrobe change. The pants even matched the new shirt my mom had bought.

IMG_0606

Sadly, I did not inherit my mommy's green thumb, but I am hoping that Baby Bear did.
