Ohmmm

Baby Bear and I went to a Mommy and me yoga class this morning. Of course, Baby Bear decided to be fussy and Miss Crankypants (she is usually very happy in the mornings). She slept really well last night, she went to bed at about 10 pm and she woke up at 3 am and 7 am to eat. She is getting closer to sleeping through the night. She was well rested so I thought all would be well. She usually falls back asleep after eating around 6 or 7 am and sleeps until about 8 or 9 am. Today she did not fall back asleep. Around 9 am, she seemed hungry and I tried to feed her before leaving for the yoga class, but for some reason she would just scream at the boob. I have no idea what was the problem. She was tired and so I figured I would get her in the car and head over to yoga and just nurse her there. She fell asleep in the car as I expected.

There were babies of different ages from about 2 months to 16 months and toddlers as well. It was pretty fun to incorporate yoga with my baby. Baby Bear was fussy through out the class and didn't eat until the very end of the class. I tried to nurse her several times during the class but for some reason she would latch and eat. She was obviously hungry. It was very stressful, which defeated the purpose of taking the yoga class in the first place. It may not have been the most successful yoga class I have taken, but it was nice to meet other mothers and it is a good way to fit in yoga with Baby Bear

We will try again next week. Hopefully, next week will be better and Baby Bear will relax and enjoy yoga.

Wow a pair of pants that fit!

I can't believe it I have a pair of pre-pregnancy pants that fit me!! Wohoo! Of course, these particular pair were a little big before but now they fit perfectly. It is nice to have some regular non-maternity pants that fit. I still have a ways to go before I am back to my original size, but at least some of my pants are now fitting over my hips.

Since I got the okay from my OB to start exercising, I have been easing myself into exercise beyond walking. I have been doing some light weights and yesterday I was able to go the gym and take my favorite yoga class. This time I came home and Baby Bear and Papa Bear were just fine. No melt downs. So I am going to try to make it to this yoga class each week. I was able to do a lot of the poses including a few of the advance moves. My back and abs are still a bit weak, but yoga will definitely help to strengthen them and get me back to the level I was before. The nice thing is that since I had practiced yoga throughout my pregnancy, I haven't lost much of my flexibility. It felt so good to challenge myself and practice yoga. It was also nice to see a lot of my gym friends.

I am hoping to incorporate more work outs in. The hardest part is finding the time. I have a few videos that I started to do this week during Baby Bear's afternoon naps. I feel really good about getting back into shape. I really missed working out and taking some of my gym classes. It is hard to get to the gym so for now the videos will have to do.

Prenatal Yoga

Yoga practice was a big part of who I was and what I did before I got pregnant. I have been practicing yoga for over 5 years and I continued to practice yoga throughout my pregnancy. Yoga has been wonderful for me. I never took any formal prenatal yoga class, rather I continued to take my yoga class with my favorite yoga instructor, Monica Matthews. I modified my poses to accommodate my growing baby bump.

Yoga is amazing and helped me to feel amazing throughout my pregnancy. It helped with all the aches and pains that accompany pregnancy. It was especially wonderful for back pains and tight hips. The yoga poses helped to keep me strong and flexible; yoga helps you to build awareness of your body and to relax. It has just been absolutely great for me.

Monica asked to take some pictures of me in yoga poses to put on her website. I was absolutely flattered. I was also honored to be in her yoga video which is an awesome yoga video, Yoga - Wherever You Are, for all levels (of course I am a little biased). Here are some of the photos that she took:
