NYC: Baby Bear and the City

NYCI had a meeting to attend in New York City and so Papa Bear and I decided to head out to NYC a few days early to make it a family affair. I hadn't been to NYC since I was 8 years old and Papa Bear had never visited. So we were excited to make out way out to the Big Apple. The flight went well. Baby Bear is an excellent traveler. We arrived in New Year late on Thursday evening and since Baby Bear was still on California time we were able to go out late and have dinner and walk around a little bit before it was time for bed.

Baby Bear was constantly looking up, since NYC is quite vertical versus horizontal. The nice thing about NYC is that you can pretty much walk every where.

Our first dinner in NYC, we went to Carnegie Deli for yummy pastrami sandwiches. It was near our hotel and yummy.

I later learned from a student of mine that this is a pretty famous deli. The food was fabulous and huge. Papa Bear and I shared a huge sandwich and didn't even finish it. And we were starving. We also came back later during our visit to split a NY cheesecake.

We were a little tired from the flight.

After dinner, we saw Times Square in the distance and decided to make our way there.

It is late in the evening, close to midnight and it looks like it is daylight with all the screens and lights in Times Square.

It was St. Patrick's Day and the place was really busy even late night. We quickly learned that Times Square was just busy like that all the time, St. Patty's or not.

Where else can you go shopping after midnight.

That was our first night in NYC. It was still going but we decided to head back to the hotel to get a little rest for our first full day in the Big Apple.
