We are in the third trimester, the last 12 weeks of pregnancy. I can't believe how quickly time has passed. It is amazing that in about 12 weeks this little person will be in my life.Baby Bear is settling into the proper position for birth, with her head facing downward. She's now about 2.5 pounds and almost 15 inches long. She's busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through my womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. Her sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means she could be dreaming already. Though her lungs are nearly fully mature, she still has plenty of growing to do. So Baby Bear stay in there until June!!
